The complexities in life of 35 years old Thomas Thwaites from London got so intense and fretful that he took a weird decision to live his life like a goat. The stress of a failed relationship and pressure of being a minor internet celebrity was too much for him to deal with. Thwaites intentionally decided to disguise himself as a goat and live in a herd on hills in Switzerland.
He spent almost a year creating prosthetic ‘goat legs’ that would allow him to roam the Alps comfortably on all fours and an artificial stomach that would enable him to blend in and ‘eat grass’.
In a report to Dailymail Thwaites said: ‘When I first had the idea a lot of people called me crazy, but I was fed up with my life anyway and I needed a break. I was jobless and I had a lot of personal problems, and I found everyday life so stressful.’
Thwaites even consulted an ethologist in an effort to get into a goat’s mindset. The diet of goats was bit challenging for him as, human stomach cannot digest grass. Thwiates decided to create an artificial goat stomach as well but, it failed. He eventually decided to cook the grass into a grassy stew for his diet.
“I learned something important, and that is that even goats have a hard life and need to fight for their existence. Every day was tough, and that is something that just is part of being alive. The one other thing I reckon I found is that goats are better people. They live much more in the moment than we do, and show us that we really do need to learn to be a bit more relaxed about life.”
Before this, Thwaites has even decided to become a dog and an elephant but he did not like meat much and becoming an elephant would mean to be in the same problem because as humans get sad, worried and distressed, elephants also feel the same.
