Someone has rightly said- ”No joy is greater than joy of giving”
This goes perfect with Bahadur Chand Gupta, a retired aircraft engineer, who has taken an initiative of providing free airplane ride experience for impoverished Indians. He purchased an Out-of-Service Airbus 300 for Rs 600,000 in 2003, which he parked at the outskirts of Delhi, on the perimeters of IGI Airport.
He even dared to sold his land for this great deed.
He charges around Rs 60 (less than a US Dollar) for this ‘Journey to Nowhere’ and provide it free to someone with no money. Yes, you heard it right, ‘Journey to Nowhere’ as the Airplane never leaves the ground.
His visitors are treated with full Airplane experience right from Boarding passes and Safety instructions to In-Flight treats and Cockpit flight lessons.
During an interview with Barcroft TV, Mr. Gupta told, “I belong to a very small village in Haryana. One gentleman from my village wanted to see the aircraft, so I took him inside the airport and I told him not to speak but he spoke and I was caught. That day I realized that it is very difficult for a poor man to get an aircraft experience. I thought that I should have something so that I can show them the aircraft.”
We can say this is the generosity of the kind heart that Bahadur Chand Gupta had in. He is trying to give his underprivileged visitors full experience of an airplane journey. He also initiated to provide free lunch to poor people while enjoying journey in plane.
