After 17 Years Of Exile, Manushi Chhillar Brings Miss World 2017 Crown To India

Stephanie Del Valle handed over her crown to 20 year old Manushi Chhillar as Miss World 2017 held at Sanya, China. After beating 118 contestants. the win comes 17 years after Priyanka Chopra brought home this title in year 2000. Manushri belongs to Haryana, India and has also been crowned Femina Miss India 2017 earlier.

She acknowledged her victory to her mentor Neha Dhupiya and idolized Reita Faria, the first Indian & Asian to win Miss World crown, 1966.

Unlike former Indian pageant winners, Manushi was asked if she also aspire to carve her career and join Bollywood; Manushi denied and gave a witty reply that the titled won opens door for all the professions not only Bollywood.

She is a student of medical and aspires to open charitable hospitals. Although she sacrificed her education for one year and put all her efforts, to win this global competition. She did her schooling from St. Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.

Her winning shot came with her heartfelt response to the question-

“Which profession in world deserves the highest salary and why?”

To which Manushi replied; “My mother has been my biggest inspiration. So I have to say, a mother’s job. It is not always about the salary but love and respect as well.”

The other winners of the title are contestants from South Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. Miss Mexico was the first runner up while Miss England was declared the second runner up.
