The trendy barbie collection has got the most surprising makeover so far, all covered up with Hijab. This modest barbie collection is getting popular with the name "Hijarbie."
Hijarbie is created by 24 years old Haneefah Adam from Nigeria and will be available in US and UK from mid March at major toy retailers for 9.99 pounds each. Adam says that she was wondering about how it would actually be like to see a doll dressed up like she does, all covered up. Adam herself designs the outfit for barbies and they are inspired by famous Mulism fashion bloggers.
Adam currently owns a lifestyle brand Hanie and posts about "Hijarbie" on Instagram which has crossed over 17K followers.
As told to Mic in an interview, Adam said -
"It's important to create a sense of value in the Muslim child, especially the girl child. They become more confident, more driven, they believe more in themselves, which leads to an appreciation of herself and her modest lifestyle and upbringing. Instead of dressing up her dolls in clothes she wouldn't wear, hijabifying it will create a sense of belonging and hopefully make a positive impact."
Meanwhile in FAQ at her Instagram account, she answered about "Why isn't the page diversified in terms of race?"
Adam answered that she couldn't find the different types in Nigeria and would love to dress up a black doll like herself too.
This modest collection is getting popular on Internet and the best part about it is that Adam hopes to accomplish it all through an Instagram account.
