With a vision and core belief to create a game that people would play for years, Supercell was born in 2010. The first game inaugurated by Supercell was Gunshine.net with cross platform gaming service. The game was a success and company decided to release the mobile/tablet version of this game.
But, the product didn’t comply with the vision of creating a game that people would play for years, as the players were soon getting bored of it within 2 or 3 months. Soon the product collapsed and then the idea was re-framed to work on smartphone gaming as they had been constantly growing but it was also riskier in days of 2011.
In early days the company failed with countless games but Gunshine hill taught them the most important lesson that it’s usually better to kill games earlier rather later.
Clash of Clans soon became the top grossing game in U.S. and starts generating $2.4 million in revenue daily. Forbes later projected a revenue of approx $1 billion by the end of 2013.
Soon, the passionate team of five member worked day and night on a game with a codename ‘magic‘ that ultimately turns into ‘Clash of Clan‘ and after that team started working on another farming game with codename ‘soil’ which later became ‘Hay Day’.
Clash of Clan was launched globally in August 2012 and soon both the games by Supercell were ruling the charts.
Since 2012 Clash of Clans has been winning millions of heart across the globe. This online multiplayer strategy game has been praised and played by people of all age. Players have to built their village, train troops, attack other player villages and loot their gold, elixir, and dark elixir. This loot can be used to develop one’s own resources.
UK based video game website Pocket Gamer had given 9/10 score to clash of clans.
In July 2015, the company announced its first clash con event in Helsinki, where clash of clans players from around the world came. The event featured live clan wars, workshops and much more. It was something that has never been before with a mobile game.
Glory China I became the first winner of clash con tournament by defeating Sweden in a tight match.
After achieving so much success from mobile gaming, supercell is optimistic and they believe that there is a lot more they can still do with their existing games and make them more better. Their new gaming strategies can change the perspective of people, the way they think about gaming and mobile games in general.
Well, no doubt, the huge Clash of Clans revenue might be the one motivating factor behind the optimism Supercell have.
